I AM

What if? Why me? Am I? Is God? How can I? What will happen?
These are the questions that brew beneath the surface of the ocean of my soul. I can feel them with my hands as I rest them upon the water. I feel the tension and energy build with every moment until finally, they break through in a tumultuous wave
coming straight for me.
Fear and doubt come hand in hand towards me, their mouths frothing with white foam and their size growing exponentially bigger as I look at them. Just as I am about to be engulfed in my inadequacies, my limitations and the questions I cannot answer
I feel a presence, a peace, amidst this storm.
I look up to see Jesus: The Great I AM of Exodus 3 is walking on the waves that threaten to drown me, and calls me [1]
to come to him.
Despite the fear and the doubt, Jesus calls me to walk on the water in faith. He calls me to keep my eyes firmly fixed on Him and not on the storm. Without Him, I know I would sink. He reminds me that because of His great love for me, I will never be without Him. He has been, is, and will be “to the very end of the age” [2]
with me.
Amidst the storm, I choose daily to
• believe God’s truth, and not the lies of the enemy
• have faith in the One who has overcome the world, and not live in fear of the world
• trust the Creator of the universe [3]
I choose to raise a hallelujah in the presence of my enemies, and silence the accuser with my praises to the Jesus who walks on water: the great I AM.
